- Description: A study of a Corinthian capital and frieze from the chancel of San Lorenzo fuori le Mura in Rome. Mackintosh visited the church on 28 April 1891 and returned the next day to make sketches.
The chancel dates from AD 579 when the church, originally founded by the Emperor Constantine, was renewed by Pope Pelagius II. The frieze is composed of fragments from a 1st century Roman building. - Dimensions: Unframed: 23.5 cm (H) x 31 cm (W)
