  • Biography: Charles Rennie Mackintosh was an architect, designer, water colourist and artist. He had considerable influence on European design. The Glasgow School of Art building (now ‘The Mackintosh Building’) is cited by architectural critics as among the finest buildings in the UK. In his later years he lived in London and was a neighbour of J D Fergusson. Mackintosh designed a theatre for Margaret Morris (Fergusson’s partner) while they were neighbours, although it was never built.
