To coincide with our Scottish Political Archive’s celebration of the 30th anniversary of the A Day for Scotland concert which took place in Stirling on 14 July 1990 this week’s theme is music & politics (an opportunity for us to feature our fabulous Musicians’ Union Archive).

Our colouring sheet is a wrap-around cover from the Feb 1964 issue of The Musician, the magazine of the Musicians Union and can be downloaded at:
Your Spotify playlist: On 14 July 1990 over 30,000 people gathered in Stirling to celebrate ‘A Day for Scotland’. Billed as ‘a Festival for our Future’, the event linked popular culture with the growing campaign for a Scottish parliament. Organised by the Scottish Trades Union Congress and Stirling District Council the event promised ‘a positive celebration of Scottish life.’ The eclectic musical line up provided a snap-shot of the Scottish music scene embracing rock, pop, folk, jazz and even thundering industrial music. This playlist features some of the artists who played on the day.
#CollectionsInColour follows on from our weekly #BrigInColour hours which took a look back at the history of the university through the pages of the student newspaper.
