- Description: Philipson served during WWII in India and Burma, witnessing the senseless destruction of the landscapes and surroundings he found himself in. These experiences brought him a hatred of aggression, and much of his work explores the human predicament. He started printmaking in the late1950s and produced designs for the Edinburgh Festival.
