- Description: Rosalind Lawless's practice is strongly influenced by her immediate surroundings, acknowledging the link between formal and abstract. She says: 'The work revolves around a sense of history, of the spaces that inspire and the history of the journey making the work, this leads me to a connection between the spaces that I use to make the work and the work itself. While physical environment of place is concrete inspiration, it‘s the subjective experience of being in a new place, unfamiliar and strangeness of navigating, this is reflected and resonates in the process of making the work through the perception of the place. Colour is a crucial component within the work. Although the colour comes from intuitive reaction it is based on and triggered by the memory of colour within a place'.
