Seeing by Noise
- Artist:
- Type: Print
- Medium: Woodcut
- Production Date: 2010
- Description: Whilst still at Gray‘s Art School, Andy Cumming pushed the boundaries between printmaking and painting. His woodcut prints are produced on a large scale, unusual for this medium, and display his very individual and confident mark-making.
He was selected to exhibit at the Royal Scottish Academy‘s New Contemporaries Exhibition 2010 at which he was awarded the RSA and Edinburgh Printmakers prizes. This work was purchased from that show. As part of a learning institution, the Art Collection is keen to support new graduates in art and has, for the past few years, purchased a piece of work from newly graduating students. - Acquisition Note: Purchased from the RSA's 'New Contemporaries' exhibition, summer 2010
