- Description: This is one of a series of designs for a pack of Scottish Historical Playing Cards, designed in the mid 1970s. They were commissioned by the Stirling Gallery, owned by Angus Ogilvy, one of the University's first alumni. Each of the character cards in the pack is a figure significant to Scottish history.
Lady Macbeth is Queen of Spades in this set (the King is Macbeth and the Jack is Malcolm Canmore).
Lady Macbeth is also known as Queen Gruoch.
'She was also of royal blood, Queen in her own right. She is buried under a green hill, near Inverness. She and MacBheatha (the Son of life) ruled seventeen years. Shakespeare created a formidable lady. There is no evidence of her real character'.
