- Description: Fergusson and his partner Margaret Morris had to leave France at the outbreak of war in 1939, making Glasgow their permanent base, where this work was painted in 1942. The painting shows the River Kelvin, near to the artist's home at 4, Clouston Street. The refracted light and rich, sonorous colour is similar to a late Monet with a softer touch.
