- Artist:
- Type: Painting
- Medium: Watercolour
- Production Date: 1930 - 1948
- Description: Gillies's work portraying changing skies and Scottish landscapes was painted outdoors with oils or watercolours and shows the influence of Edvard Munch and Emil Nolde. His later landscapes were more complex and pencil and ink outlines became more important in his watercolours.
Here Gillies was moving towards abstraction, demonstrated by a flattening of the picture, as the house is pulled forward onto the surface, rather than offering a strong sense of perspective. - Dimensions: Framed: 68.5cm (H) x 81cm (W ). Unframed: 48.5cm (H) x 62 cm (W).
