  • Biography: Born in Glasgow and brought up in Partick, the son of a shipyard plater, Bill Wright attended Glasgow School of Art. He taught art in schools and subsequently became an art adviser, encouraging teachers to give all children a good art experience. In 1977 he was elected to the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour. For half a century he painted on the Mull of Kintyre, an area he loved and which provided much inspiration. At times his works were very abstract and symbolic, concentrating on themes of nature and transience. He exhibited, and won prizes, in the major Scottish shows as well as many galleries.(Information taken from an obituary in the Herald, dated 16th November 2016, written by Alison Shaw).
