Leon Piesowocki (1925 – 2024)
View all Artists- Biography: Born in Poznan, Poland, Leon Piesowocki was half Polish, half German. After being forcibly drafted into the German army in 1943, he later deserted and fought with the British forces in Italy in 1945. Some months after the end of the war, he obtained a scholarship and a place at the Academy of Rome. A year later he received a scholarship to continue his studies in London. He then worked as a commercial artist, and after 1968, his main occupation was printmaking using different techniques for which he was awarded several prizes at various international Print Biennales. From 1976 he lived in France.
