View all Artists- Biography: Born in Bombay, and raised in Bridge of Weir and Kilmacolm, Alison McKenzie studied at Glasgow School of Art and the Grosvenor School of Art in London. She worked as a designer and she went on to teach at Dundee College of Art.
The pictures by Alison McKenzie in the Collection (and three more by her sister Winifred) were bequeathed by Aylwin Clark who wrote a biography of the McKenzie sisters, with a foreword by David McClure, which provides a fascinating account of their joint lives. Their father George who trained at Glasgow School of Art in the 1880s was a contemporary and friend of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
