Richard Demarco (1930 – )
View all Artists- Biography: Richard Demarco is a Scottish artist and promoter of the visual and performing arts. He co-founded the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh in 1963, and went on to found the Richard Demarco Gallery (1966-92). The gallery doubled as a performance space every summer during the Edinburgh Festival. Demarco had a formative influence on the art collection at the University of Stirling, and in 2008 was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the arts in Scotland.
