Henry H Clyne (1930 – 2006)

Biography: Born on a farm in Caithness, Henry Clyne studied at Edinburgh College of Art 1948-54 and after a two year Harkness fellowship teaching and touring the United States of America, he taught at Norwich, Cheltenham and Winchester schools of Art. In 1967 he took part in the International Concrete Poetry Exhibition in Brighton, presenting collaborations with Ian Hamilton Finlay.
Following his busy academic career, and some time learning and teaching ceramics at the Tokoname ceramic center in Japan, Henry Clyne set up SheepShapes where he created well over two thousand unique sheep-related ceramic pieces, and thousands of drawings.
