Wilhelmina Barns-Graham (1912 – 2004)
View all Artists- Biography: Wilhelmina Barns-Graham CBE attended Edinburgh College of Art 1932-7, and moved to St Ives in the 1940s where she became friends with Ben Nicholson and Barbara Hepworth. From 1960, she divided her time between St Andrews and St Ives. Barns-Graham was an eminent abstract artist. Her images derived from acute observations of natural forms and places she had visited, pared to their bare essentials. Her paintings can be found in public collections throughout the UK.
