Barbara Balmer (1929 – 2017)

Biography: Born in Birmingham, Barbara Balmer RSA studied at Coventry and Edinburgh Colleges of Art. She first exhibited in 1953, and continued to exhibit widely throughout her life. She also taught at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen . She was married to the artist George Mackie and a large mural painted by her can be seen in Cumbernauld Town Hall.
